It was a gorgeous spring day on Madeline Island, and a perfect day to view the wetlands from the Capser Trail Observation Deck. The Observation Deck is a very short hike from the trail parking lot off Middle Road. Spring is also a wonderful time to look and listen for migrating birds!

Burroughs Trailhead to Buffalo Lodge on A Warm November Day

It was unseasonably warm on this early November day. The leaves had fallen. A recent light snow had melted leaving the trails soggy. Wish I had worn my Muck boots—slow going because it was slippery with tennis shoes! However, it is clear that the trails are in great shape for Cross Country Skiing and Snow Shoeing this winter!

Madeline Island Wilderness Preserve

The Madeline Island Wilderness Preserve is a non-profit land trust dedicated to the protection and preservation of natural areas on Madeline Island. The nature preserve lands are open to the public for hiking, skiing, berry-picking and hunting. MIWP is committed to education and advocacy — each summer we sponsor field trips and evening programs. Madeline Island is adjacent to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore on the South Shore of Lake Superior in Wisconsin.
