Saturday, October 3rd
10:00 AM–12:00 Noon
Burroughs Trail Head

Hike Leader: MIWP Board Member Steve Mueller
Naturalist Guide: Charly Ray, Northwoods Expert in Restoration Ecology and Forest Management

The hike will include a discussion on

  • Forest management opportunities
  • Ecological context of Madeline Island forests
  • Opportunities for restoration and
  • Challenges posed by invasive species and a changing climate.

Meet at the Burroughs Trail Head, 2.5 miles north of Benjamin Blvd on the North Shore Road.

After the hike all MIWP Board members, and any hike participants who are interested in further discussion with Charly, are invited to a pot-luck picnic at Victoria Erhart's home at 3889 Amundsen Lane.

With colors changing in The Preserve, this will be a beautiful time of year for hiking the woods! And the pot-luck is both a social gathering, and a chance for all to focus on the topic of forest management issues.
