2026: 37th Annual Meeting and Evening Reception
/The Wilderness Preserve will be hosting its 37th Annual Meeting this coming Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 23rd, at the Madeline Island School of the Arts. The event will be an evening reception with an informal buffet of hearty hors d’oeuvres and wine service, catered again this year by our own Madeline Island Farmhouse. A social gathering and food service begins at 6:00 pm, with the program beginning at 7:30 pm. This year’s program features:
Jeff Rennicke, Executive Director, Friends of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, National Geographic Writer and Photographer
“WITH NEW EYES: SEEKING A SENSE OF PLACE IN THE APOSTLE ISLANDS”
Crawling into the dens of hibernating black bears in Colorado, river rafting in China, exploring Antarctica on a Russian research vessel, climbing Africa’s Mount Kilimanjaro, Jeff Rennicke has lived a life of adventure, traveling the world as a writer and photographer for National Geographic Traveler, Reader’s Digest, Backpacker and more. It took staying put to show him that beauty and meaning can also be found in the familiar. Using poetic explorations in the Apostle Islands aboard his boat the “Little Dipper,” Rennicke shares how the art of slowing down and looking closely can deepen our sense of place and our commitment to the landscapes we love.
The price of the Spring Reception is $40 / person
Reservations can be made online through the MIWP Website: www.miwp.org
