American Marten at Apostle Islands National Lakeshore

American marten, an endangered species, were discovered on Manitou and Stockton Islands in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in 2015 for the first time in more than 40 years. MIWP board member Ned Hancock captured one on video recently on Stockton Island.

Keith Sowl and Ken Myhre packing and grooming trails for XC skiing. Thanks guys you’re the best!

It was raining on the morning planned for this early October hike, but a bunch of us bundled up in our rain gear anyway, and hiked the North End Trails — and we were really glad we did!
The beautiful colors were enhanced by the mists, and our boots and hats and coats kept us warm, and added to the colors of the forest.
The annual potluck afterwards at Toria Erhart’s home was a lot of fun, too, and the food was great!
